There is another gap in the divided highway between Fox Creek and Valleyview.
Approaching Little Smoky, this is the end of the Swan Hills area and the beginning of the Peace Region.
Welcome to the Peace Country! This area is among the most fertile and most northerly farmland in the world.

The divided highway resumes once again, south of Valleyview.
Junction with Highway 665.

There is a major National Highway junction in Valleyview. Highway 49 heads north to join the Mackenzie Highway while Highway 43 veers due west towards Grand Prairie and the Alaska Highway.
There is a diaphragmatic sign pointing out Peace River to the right and Grande Prairie to the left.
Nearing the intersection. As you can see, the highway narrows down to an urban cross section with a reduced speed through Valleyview. In the future, this junction may be reconfigured to provide a free-flow interchange for National Highway standards. An additional interchange would also be needed to access the town.
Click here to turn right and follow Highway 49 to the Mackenzie Highway and the Northwest Territories.
The highway narrows to two lanes before entering the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation.
Through the Cree Nation there are sign warning about the pedestrians who frequently walk along the highway.
A view of the countryside in the Peace Region.
A divided highway begins again about 50 km from Grande Prairie.
