The drive from Medicine Hat to Brooks is particularly flat, arid, and sparsely populated. There is a major Canadian Forces Base just northeast of here.

Junction with Highway 542 on the east end of Brooks. This intersection has had a high accident rate over the past several years and as a result an interchange is currently being constructed.
