There are several abrupt turns on this portion of the highway, where the alignment switches to follow various grids.

There are some wide sweeping hills and excellent panoramas as we travel further west.
Junction with Highway 901. Highway 901 was recently paved (2000) and is now an important short-cut route to access southern Calgary from Highway 1.
